I've made some fondant up for the bees, but it has come out quite gooey...and I'm worried will sink down in to the hive and drown them all in one big sticky mess. Is there a way I can give it to them? It's fairly thick, just not solid...

Is it enough to put it in a container on top of the crown board with a hole in the bottom?

Put it in a plastic bag and just put a one inch knife slit in the bag offer the feeder hole. They will find it

Or you could add granulated or icing sugar (whichever is handier) and knead 'em together until the mix 'firms-up' to how you want it.

Feed 1:1 instead? It is now March and they will be brooding?

Brood needs far more water than there is in honey, let alone fondant.

But on another thread people are saying it's too early for syrup and to stick with the fondant. Where does the majority of experienced opinion lie?

Having looked at the long-range weather forecast, I don't intend to feed light syrup for at least another 3 weeks.

Depends where you live and what 'flows' are likely in the near future! England is a big country, oh and Wales and Scotland too!

Actually - Wales is bigger than England (if you flattened all the bumps out!!) :biggrinjester:

I live in England but I can spit into Wales from my garden!!actually most my bees forage is in Wales so I am forever grateful!
