I got 98lb from one of my hives this year, (not so much from the others due to swarming, drone laying queens etc).

I dont think thats too bad considering I did an AS on it back in April (and didnt reunite)

How much honey did you get

That's enough to provide Drstitson's sister with honey until next June!

Compared to that, hardly a drop not worthy:)

Approx 184 lbs of the three that produced honey and approx 22 lbs of unripe honey, no osr.

5 lbs! But it's my first year and the little sods swarmed in April two weeks after we got them despite my best efforts to do an AS. Spent the rest of the year building the colony back up. We also hived a cast swarm but they have been building up too and gave no honey. The small amount of honey we have tastes great and will go into 40 g jars for Christmas presents.

New beek. Spun off uncapped honey first after giving frames a good hard shake, and got 8lbs. Uncapped and then spun the rest and got another 11lbs.

Can't believe it as I only had three quarters of a super off a June nuc.

Big thanks to all on here - couldn't have done it without you not worthy

Now to get them through the winter......

First two years I left the super to them. This year I had to get some:drool5:
First got 34.5 lbs ( two supers - used 22 frames only) then 4/5 weeks later another 20 odd ( jar-ring it up today - so approx 20 lbs. - all from same hive. So am very pleased with that, and local village shop has/will sell all:party:

We split our 1 hive in spring, and got 90lb between it and the split.

none ! looked like we would from our first hive we got in May, but then they swarmed, the original Queen vanished and the two new Queens took ages to start laying.

Result is we have two hives now, both doing well, and both in a good position for Winter but no honey taken from either.

Hopefully better next year :)

Similar to previous post. Split ours into another two and got about 120lb in total from all three. First harvest so well pleased. Now off to worried about winter.

It really does seem as though getting bees on new foundation during an AS or split really gets them going.

70lb from 2 hives both started as nucs in May. Pretty pleased for my first year.

That's unbelievable! Got my nuc at the end of May and have nothing to show other than a strong swarm of brood and half. For some reason HM only got her A into G in the past 6 weeks but too late to miss the flow.

I see you're based in Somerset and one of the earlier posters is also Somerset yet both have vastly different results. Do you know what your main forage was that brought this about? Limes, borage, heath? Very interested to know.

Seriously thinking of moving one of my hives nearer to a large town 5 miles away and see what difference it makes to the 2012 year-end output when compared to their current rural location.

nuc from hivemaker

We had 3 supers full from a nuc in which we received in july from Hivemaker with a new queen wow, may of had a little help from the balsom.

Well my hives are in the Gordano Valley, which runs from Portishead to Clevedon in North Somerset. Much of the valley is a SSSI and is permanent pasture, which has an abundance of wild flowers. I think the white clover was the main source of my honey as it is light in colour and delicate flavour. There are also lime trees, bramble and hawthorn (although I was too late for that this year). Would seem to be a good site!
