The most often asked question I get when taking a swarm is, "How many bees are there in that swarm?" and I usually make a very random guess.
I'm better at estimating volume when presented with a cluster of bees, so, out of interest does anyone know, roughly, how many bees you get in a pint / litre (assuming they are close together of course)?
I've seen widely varying numbers for bees per pound, but would prefer a guess on volume if you know it.
