What are the visual differences between a virgin and mated queen?

Just size?

A couple of weeks ago I was shown queens that had failed to get back into an observation hive and fallen into a container hanging from the entrance pipe. One had been fertilised, I was told, and another still a virgin, due changes at the business end. One just looked more opened up. You'd need a large amount of experience to see that in a live queen.
