I extracted about 5 kilos of honey last week. It spun out of the combs easily enough although some was quite dark and may have been a bit of heather honey from last year that the girls had moved up into the supers.
Anyway, the honey flatly refused to pass through my filters in the normal way and in the end I had to force it through with a silicone spoon. Trouble is, that left the honey very cloudy with wax remnants. I then decided to pass it through my jelly cloth and despite vigorous squeezing it won't go through that either.
Explanations and/or ways out of the predicament would be much appreciated.

Temperature?

water content:? water may have evaporated.. Dilute to 20%..

It's crystallising. You need to heat it to say 40-50C for as short a time as possible for it to clear.

The last honey i extracted got a tad cold around14/15C and it turned a thick consistency which filtered eventually but the air and fine scum would not rise.. i warmed it to just under 40c and the scum and bubbles arrived to the top just as planned..

Well I left the honey in the bucket for a week while I thought about next steps and it has now gone quite solid. I am thinking now that it might be best to let the bees reprocess it. Would it be OK to feed this back to them in a block in a plastic bag over the hole in the crown board?

You mean feed it to the bees so that they filter it for you and put it in a fresh super??!!!
Just warm it!

How much is in the bucket ???

Yes warm it and use as set your bees found some rape at some point is my guess and the cloudy bits are small crystals
