What are the laws on me buying honey from other beekeepers in the area and selling it as titterstone Clee honey, because I've had so many inquiries for me to supply honey to different outlets
I've got £6 for mine
If you state or imply on the jar it's from a specific location and you have bought in honey from other sources then you may be infringing the Trade Description Act if it's not proven to be from the same place.
I've never done it and I would worry about what other beekeepers have done prior to putting it in the buckets .. Your name on the jar .. your responsibility and your reputation. Plus - you are required to have to be able to identify the batch and it's provenance with a lot number or similar identifier - how are you going to be able to prove where it came from if you ever have to ? Once you stray from Farm gate sales the authorities are likely to take more interest in your product.
I'm not suggesting that there IS going to be a problem but just look at the number of beekeepers who feed syrup to their bees virtually none stop through the season and then call the resultant stuff 'Honey'.
If you are going to re-sell I would be inclined to have a different label and identify it as something less specific - perhaps even identify it as 'A blend of honeys from South Shropshire Apiaries'. Even then .. I would be worrying that someone had dumped thymol on the colony with supers in place .. you can taste that from outside the jar almost !
