Darren, I fell in love with Nepal in the late sixties, went back again twice when I was much older to trek "off piste" away from the hordes and I'd be back like a shot!
Husband might take some convincing. I wonder if they might do this trip again next year?

For those less adventurous a visit to Frimley Park Hospital can convey a flavour of Kathmandu since a significant proportion of patients, staff and visitors are of Nepalese origin.

They've sorted me out a few times over the years though! Spent many a happy hour at firmly park!!

Perhaps due to the proximity of the Sandhurst Miltary Academy?
(Gurkhas)

aldershot actually.

Yuk - too many reminders there of my 2 years of National Service in Wellington Barracks in the 50s. I like the Ghurkas though and met many in Hong Kong 1973 to 1976. Always felt we took them too much for granted. Winge over and out.

For info, from the army.mod.uk website...

The major units of the Brigade today are The Royal Gurkha Rifles (two battalions), The Queen's Gurkha Engineers, Queen's Gurkha Signals, and The Queen's Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment. In addition there are two independent companies - Gurkha Company (Sittang) at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and Gurkha Company (Mandalay) at the Infantry Battle School, Brecon.
:)

Sure the company may be at Sandhurst

BUT

The vast majority of the Nepalese are ex-Gurkha or relatives and are mostly based in aldershot.

That holiday looks fantastic, maybe next year who knows.
