Yaaaawwwwnnnnn ... Let's hope the weather improves and we can all get out and play with our bees ... and No ... there were no nails with the Thornes Sale Frames I bought and I've just run out ... anyone know the best place to buy frame sized gimp pins ?

A DIY store

I've bought both first and second quality frames from Thornes and have never had nails supplied with any of them.

well just bought 10 commercial from thornes of windsor shop on Tuesday and they had the little packet of nails in the pack ( i only run one commecial hive the rest are national/14x12 ) The gimp nails are normally selloptape tod the side (perhaps Gill of thornes could clarify?)

All the other ememergency purchases of !st quality frames from there had them in the past, but i normally purchase seconds by the 100s and agree seconds dont have nails but all broods and supers do

I looked in my local B&Q and Wickes and neither of them sell gimp pins .... they seem to be mainly used by upholsterers ... but ... looks like the main beekeeping suppliers are the best bet.

Amazon do them. No doubt eBay too. I'm not sure what is considered a good price though. Do you have a nearby thornes agent? They probably have a box

Looks like Maisies are the best ones .... postage is a bit rich but I can't find any on amazon or ebay either.

None on amazon (more than 13mm long anyway - and very expensive) nor ebay - what they class as gimp pins I would call cut tacks - totaly unsuitable for frames. Only supplier I can find online are twice the price of the beekeeping suppliers
