Welcome, Shona. How's beekeeping?

Hi its a steep learning experience, thank you. I got my first colony in august 2021 and all was well, in may i made a split which seemed to address the overcrowding or so i thought, the original hive swarmed 2 weeks later i managed to catch it in a nearby elder bush and hived it successfully, only for the same original hive to caste swarm again a few days later 🤷‍♀️ I put them in a nuc and bought a new queen . They are all building up nicely and seem very strong apart for the original hive which is as i discovered this week , apparently hopelessly queenless and with workers laying drones . Hey ho !!! It wouldnt be interesting if it was easy.

:welcome:
My mother in law lived in Montrose.

Happy days on the beach. Lovely country.
