Conditions have been as good as any other year I can think off since the end of July but much of it was already dead. No shortage of strong hives went up either, the hills simply didn't colour up . 3 yrs ago I had a 60lb average, more than anyone else I knew of locally but we just don't have the expanses or quality of Heather they have elsewhere, they've been poorly managed ,shrinking and over grazed for decades. However, I've seen summer harvests the like of which I may never see again, so it's swings and roundabouts as always. I'll be back up there next year in the hope of a harvest and to pollinate a flower or two so that maybe one day it'll be better.
