I doubt it. My theory is that lust for power is built into our DNA as a consequence of survival of the fittest. This might explain why Putin and Xi, respectively heads of the two geographically largest states in the world, strive for more territory.

We are lucky to live in a multiparty democracy. Change is possible, even politics isn’t hopeless, I believe my voice and actions matter otherwise I wouldn’t speak out or vote. There is no denying the behavioural traits of the human race but ultimately republics and autocracies ‘live’ only as long as the citizens want or tolerate them. They are not eternal but autocratic rule can be a preferred choice over the chaos of a broken republic or even a democracy.

Best wishes to all for a successful 2025, with success defined your way .
