Every cat and their dog seems to have a day these days.
No reason why bees, on whom our hobby/livelihood depend, shouldn't have one. :D
Nothing wrong with a bit of positive promotion too. :)

I don't mind a bee day and enjoy talking to anyone about bees and beekeeping to anyone who will listen.
Most people are fascinated once you start talking to them about the subject.

Google did a bit of promoting of honeybees on their google doodle on 22nd April for Earth Day.
If anyone missed it you can find it here.

Buff tailed bumbles seems to have had a tough time in my locale. The lawn was full of them and then the cold weather came and seems to have wiped the queens out. Strawberries still ok, but I wonder about my broad beans?

And Monmouth is the world's first bee town. Whatever that means!

I heard Nicola Bradbear talking about it on Radio 4 Today yesterday morning. Apparently it's about not cutting grass verges and hedges to within an inch of their lives and leaving them to produce wild flowers and so on.
