does that mean WELSH beekeepers or anybody living in WALES

looks like I might be in with a shout then as ENGLISH as I am

Seeing some of the snidey posts on here reminds me of my Uncle Dafydd he was so rich that, as well as his workaday flat cap he owned a trilby for more formal occasions such as chapel etc and a bowler for funerals and agricultural shows - yes, that's right!

TWO HATS

I find nationalism a joke. I was born in Wales, that makes me Welsh. If I was born in England I'd be English but I'd still be me, no better and no worse than anyone else.
We get very protective and mark out boundaries on a bit of turf, yet we will all shuffle off one day and take none of it with us.

I hate these type of threads. Do we really need to have these bitching sessions.

An interesting post degenerates completely.

I'm very much in favour of the Union and if some of the tax I pay goes to help areas that need the money - whether it's in ANY part of the UK - and coming from the North there are areas in England, mostly North of the Watford Gap, that still need investment. I don't begrudge Scotland or Wales any of the National purse. You only have to look at the historic contribution they have made to the Union (not least of which the disproportionate numbers of Scots, Welsh and Irish ~ compared to their total populations ~ that signed up to fight in two world wars).

I despise the devisive way that some people seek to comment upon the way the national purse is divided .. I consider Great Britain as a whole and whilst I retain my unique persona as a Yorkshireman - I consider myself principally BRITISH. I am equally appalled at the current few (I Hope !!) Scots who are seeking to break up our great nation. Devolution is one thing I can accept ... separatism is something else altogether.

You obviously missed the neonics debates... They made this look like a WI tea party...

Well ... it's a bit rainy today so we're seeing some signs of 'confined to barracks' syndrome ... you might as well mention THAT subject as it always degenerates into a brawl ... I think I'm going to go into the garage now and do something ...

:iagree:
need to do some stocktaking in the bee shed to ascertain how much flatpack kit I have left (err, two broods and one super I think!) make some more crown boards and recycle some wax - I find I no longer have any use for the effigy of Margaret Thatcher so I'll melt it down and make a new one (have yet to decide who though), anyone have any use for a bundle of hatpins, hardly used?

Having lived in North Wales (Gwynedd) for 4 years and Scotland (East Kilbride) for nearly 4 years, I find them very friendly and quite worth the money. However, I can do without the occasional lambasting as an "imperial oppressor and exploiter".
Knowing that these few devisive lambasters often know their history, I learnt to retort that :
"We English outsourced the actual oppression and exploiting to the natives, where ever possible and it usually was"

Commiserations on being from Yorkshire ... :)

The wheels of government (and especially NRW - an organisation i spend a lot of time dealing with as Chairman of the Carmarthenshire Fishermen's Federation) turn slowly so I wouldn't expect an announcement for a while yet. As I no longer have an inside track with the WBKA I'll probably find out about the same time as everyone else.
