Seen T's advert in October's Beecraft for their Open Day? One grammatical and one spelling error ('bargins') and to cap it all:
NEW FOR 2013!
Expert advice from Thomas staff

Haven't seen the advert, BUT generally their Sale days have been a bit like the traditional opening of Harrods Sale - an undignified scrummage! Staff have had their work cut out on 'security' duties - if you wanted a quiet chat and some advice, best to go when its quiet. Being the only customer, I was even offered a mug of tea on my only visit to the Windsor shop - well it was mid-week and November...

And the term 'bargin' is nowadays (post eBay) used in an ironic sense. Usually flagged up in some way though.

I am afraid, these days, that the level of spelling and grammar in general use is not what it was when I was at school (a long time ago). I think that automatic spelling and grammar functions in word processing and DTP programmes have led to some real 'howlers' but I think people seem to be less able to spell as a result of not having to 'learn' the English language in the same way that it was taught for generations. My OH's a teacher and she can't understand where it all starts to break down ... she thinks it may be that kids don't READ as much as they used to and that doesn't help.

As for the automatic word filling function on iphones and the like ... well, you have to be really careful ...

SORRY - that isn't a typo - give them some credit wrt knowing their own name. you obviously are not aware of the following:

"We are pleased to announce a new partnership with Thomas Apiculture in France"

Hmm with all these errors in their mailings I can see them cocking up my online - AGAIN! I'd better make room in the shed for all the stuff I didn't order but will land on the doorstep!

Agree unaware. Not mentioned on their website as far as I can see. Typed 'Thomas' into their search box and I see T's sell 5 rather expensive Thomas extractors

half way down this page:

http://www.thorne.co.uk/about-thorne

"We are pleased to announce a new partnership with Thomas Apiculture in France; one of the oldest and most respected suppliers of beekeeping equipment in the world. They specialise in quality stainless steel equipment. We specialise in quality hives. You can now find our Western Red Cedar hives (albeit to a French specification) in their catalogue and their stainless steel equipment in our catalogue."

top and third hit on googling "thornes thomas beekeeping"

Let's hope Thorne can teach the French something about customer service, which is generally non-existent :(

As much the fault of the magazine's proof readers as Thornes

You can't blame the magazine for mistakes in ads. They will rarely get to see copy before going to press. This is why ad deadlines are so late, right before the printers are fired up.
