There are lots of similarities in the basic design to that produced in stainless by Taylors of Welwyn half a century later.

The gearing, the clutch, the attachments for the feet, the honey tap, the drum carrying handles.

Didn't sell then - and no bids again with the repeat: #360636563240

Can't see who would buy it as an antique - a beekeeping museum perhaps ?

As you say - good gears ...

I have a set like that..

One day I might fit them up to a plastic barrel and make an extractor....

or I might not......

If it was near me I'd have got it, Nortan has a great tip on here soak wax frames in bleach and spin in extractor to throw out crap.

OK for home use but doesn't everything have to be food grade plastic or stainless steel if you are going to sell the honey ?

It looks as though the actual gears and winding mechanism are just plain steel and the frame holders are galvanised ... the tub would just be scrap. It will, undoubtedly, be imperial sizes for the components.

Past experience of this type of conversion usually means that it costs you more than buying a second hand one that's fit for purpose !
