Hi all i have three hives which are sll in the same apiary. Two seem to have very low varroa counts but one is still dropping 9 over24hrs on the 5th week of apiguard. (1st tray on for 10 days all gone follwed by 2nd tray). Should i treat them further and if so with what. Thanks for all your advice. Cheers Justine

i would be inclined to give another tray if in any doubt, or find a friend with a open pack of apivar they have not used up.

Thanks ian i was worried on over treating them , if they could handle more than one type, and causing resistance, but i suppose if theyre weakened by varroa then its a mute point worrying about the health or tolerance of them whilst giving further treatments.

Would that contravene the VMD's regulations?

You could try vaporising with the Api Bi Poxall stuff

Nos da

Bakerbee there are no resistance issues that involve thymol or your acid treatments, they have a different form of attack compared to your chemicals/apistan/apivar

Thanks ian i was worried about over treating and unsure of if they could tolerate further treatments even the natural ones. You been a great help thanks.

Similar thing has happened to me in that two of my hives still have large mite drops after two treatments with Apiguard. I have put a third treatment in and have fed them at the same time as the last time the queens stopped laying for a couple of weeks.
