Beekeeping and course fishing have a lot in common.

So, I build my frame holder yesterday. Pretty much a bodged up fudge job using whatever I could find around the place and a set of hooks from the hardware store.

Adam that is a work of art. Enjoy resting your frames safely on it.

It's a good bit of construction ... I'll give you 10/10 for it ... tell us next year if you are still using it ... or like most of the rest of us ... seemed like a good idea at the time. Now .. set your creative skills to good use and make one that will hang over the open hive so you can photo the frames and sit admiring your bees preserved digitally forever ..

I had one made for me several years ago and I've been using it ever since. I don't find the space created by removing the dummy board is enough so I need to take another frame or two out.

Heh. I was thinking I should make a “drip tray” to go underneath and catch that errant and erstwhile queen.

The main drawback of a “super frame holder” that stands OVER the hive is designing one that doesn’t inherently block the box underneath making the inspection impossible!

I may have to solve the square root of -1 first.

You will think about it subconciously and eventually, like Archimedes, you will have your Eureka ! moment ...and then all you have to do is build it ..

And lap up the adulation from beekeeping photographer who have been desperately seeking one ...

We await with baited breath ...

I have a budding idea and may yet beat you to it ...

Attributes:

Mobile
Functional
Deploys over hive but does not obstruct inspections
Adjustable height
Holds a frame safely and vertically
Ability to identify frame number and date
