Hi all

I've been offered a phenomenal site that ticks all the boxes you would want for an out apiary it is located on a plub orchid, thats been planted to fruit throughout the year. My question is guess is I have limited experience with plumbs, are they a viable source of nectar for honeybees?

Cheers

I haven't managed to get a crop from plums, but the bees like the nectar. They tend to flower early in the season when the colonies are generally smaller.
Others may have had a different experience of course.

Unless it's an enormous orchard, will it really matter?

It's a great point. 15 acres.
tiny in the scheme of things.
I think that orchards in general are more a source of pollen for the bees than nectar with some evidence of European beekeepers feeding syrup to the bees during orchard pollination contracts to top up their carbs supply.

Good to know, the site is great in ever other way. More than enough forage in the area. 👍
