When will these Danish Queens/Bees stop... .... i went to the bees today to basically take any undrawn super frames out on this particular colony that i put in on Saturday to replace the frames i took out for extraction, i was going to swap them for extracted frames but the ten undrawn frames i put in on Saturday are nearly fully drawn out and filling with nectar so i had to stick a fifth super on top.. at this rate i will need to buy a step ladder if they keep going and i have already extracted two supers from this colony..
Will they just keep going and going.. i cant extract anymore supers yet as they are not fully capped.. the thistle and other forage is in full flow and i only have four super spare out of twelve..
I think i will be sending Beefriendly a invoice for the next batch of equipment i need to buy..:spy:;)
P.s the humming in this hive can be heard from a good distance so the air conditioning must be turned up to full power..also would it be wise to use the top ventilation slots if these conditions continue.
Thanks
Steve.

Welcome to the club Steve. I'm struggling to keep up with mine as well.
Check water content on uncapped. If nearly full I find most of mine are coming out at around 18% so extracting and going straight back on. One tip don't put clearers etc on in middle of day, AM is best as there is often fresh dilute nectar everywhere by mid afternoon.

I will do that N .. the last bit i extracted on Saturday was reading 17.5% and that was not fully capped either, it would certainly be handy if i could free a few boxes up.

Looks like a skyscrapper! Wonderful.

I always keep a stepladder close to hand this time of year...
You won't find that advice in many beekeeping books :)

if they fill this 5th super i will have had nae on 140lb of honey of this one colony..
Not IF, when!.
If the season hadn't been so slow to start you would have had more already. I'm well behind last season....but catching up fast....very fast.

It is certainly a good thing but dear lord it is turning out to be fairly busy and i have nowhere near the amount of colonies that you have, who ever invented these ventilated bee suits want awarding with Nobel Peace prize...:D ..

One of those suits will be on my christmas list. I was sweating buckets today. Im tempted to strip off before putting it on next inspection if this weather holds. It was not pleasant today shifting heavy boxes of brood.

I have a few of those but not a Danish queen amongst them
One of my 14x12 has eight supers on it.
It’s the weather. A summer like this I certainly won’t see again in my beekeeping days.

Was going to ask the same question pukka ready for next year ....

Are they easy to handle?

.
I'd like to see how you are going to clear that lot in one go :)
I extract as they fill, even when uncapped ....as long as refractometer tells me things are good to go...
Only 8 though? Must be some of HM's queens :)

If i had not already extracted two supers they would be on Seven ... that is surely a world record in my location..

Are what easy to handle full boxes high up or the bees the bees are a pleaure o be around but the work they are giving me to do..?? well no comment..

On 15th June, my number 20 was 83.15 Kg (183.31 lbs) and number 46 was 81.80Kg (180.34 lbs)

When did you stop keeping Carniolans :)..
And how on Earth do you keep such exact records for each hive?

I find it impossible to do that and just do a rough production hive average...although I note the number of supers removed from each.

Sound like we are about to have mine's bigger than yours competition though..... Erica's in the lead with 8 supers on at the moment....
Any advance on 8?
Pictures as well please...and if we find its 4 supers with a clearer board and 4 supers above instant disqualification.
