Diy plywood hive a la 'Hedgerow pete' - 2 concrete building blocks, floor, brood box, 2 supers, roof, - 30 cheapo frames and wax, plus a free swarm, TOTAL COST £80

Give H Pete another £20 and I bet he'd build the hive for you.

If you have to buy your bees, most local assocs have someone who will sell you a nuc for £50 or £100. Not long ago a forum member in Cornwall I think was offering bees for £50 iirc.

That's probably what I'd do if I wanted stuff right now.

Mind you, Easybees (mikethebee) seem to be mighty powerful if you're hard enough to handle them, and are probably a good buy as well.

JC.
