Making Fondant.
I have started making fondant today, following Rosti's video and it worked a treat.
The next few weeks of my life will be spent standing in front of the stove, so thanks again Rosti....

With that many colonies just buy if in from catering suppliers like bako or bfp wholesell and they will deliver to you door with no carrage if you purchase enough I think you have to spend around £80 to £100 for the free carrage
Plus it keeps better and stays softer than the fondent you make yourself

Wyn-e Jones sell Apifonda in 2.5kg heavy duty plastic packets for £5.20 or 12.5 kg at £23.50. Keeps forever. It's in their online at http://****************/store/index...ch_in_description=1&keyword=Apifonda&x=9&y=10 price list or you can phone them.

Thanks for that, I was hopeing it was available in bulk somewhere. I just couldn't see myself standing at the stove making that much fondant, so will ring them on Monday.

No need to pay silly prices for Ambrosia fondant,white bakers fondant for around £8.60 per 12.5kg does the same job.

only need to use fondant early on, it's usually used in feb/march if stores are low. or handy for use in breeding mini-nucs

Just thought I would pass this on.
I went over to collect fondant today and owner told me that fondant prices will go up next month due to the increased sugar prices....

I agree with Tony however there are exceptions. I have one single BB colony that is light and not taking syrup, they'll get an insurance fondant block added end october and then a monthly check when I heft. R

When i was feeding fondant only, then main feed in september/october same as feeding syrup. But i use it at any time of the year that bees need feeding,and use fondant only for feeding mating nucs and five frame nucs/colonys, through the summer when needed. Yes i like to feed every colony a % of thymolated syrup in autumn.

Back up hivemaker 100% on this. All the hype is sales talk. All the negatives about other products is also sales talk.

Bog ordinary white bakers fondant is just as good.

Novice here...http://www.beekeepingforum.co.uk/Smiles/blush5.gif. when people talk about bakers fondant do they mean the soft 'ready to roll icing' stuff? i have some left over in my cupboard which is too hard to use for cakes. However i wasn't confident to use it because the ingredients are different in different makes of icing? its white with no food colouring. will it be safe to use?

As long as its only sugar, water and glucose it will be fine.
