fondant or a big boild sweet ?

im not sure if i have messed up i used 2kg sugar 500ml water 5 tea spoons of lemon juice boiled it at 120 c for 20 minuets cooled it to 82 c had it in the blender for 10 minuets or more with the paddle attachment, i also added 3-4 drops of lemon grass oil when i finished boiling it ,then left it in the fridge for about 8 hrs and i have this . is it how it should be or do i bin it or what ?

Smash it up with a hammer and you have enough lemon cough sweets to rot all your teeth ... and the answer is .. no it should not look like that ! Where did you get the recipe ?

1. 120 degrees is too hot.
2. You just need to get it to 114 degrees gently and make sure it's there - No boiing necessary.
3. Chill the pan in a cold water bath and stir, keep it moving, once it is cool enough to handle knead by hand.
4. Wrap in cling film, no refrigeration needed.

Forget the lemon grass oil add a tablespoon of liquid glucose.

better still, just buy a slab of baker's fondant
 
Yes too time consuming and the effort needed, let alone the power cost, far easier to buy a case (or a few ) . Fondant stores and doesn't go off, just seal it to prevent drying out.
