Just had a call from farmer at apiary of 12 near the Worcestershire Avon.
All I can say is the hives seem to be floating according to him, but I'm not holding out much hope.
I can't get there before dark so it's tomorrow morning unfortunately as I'm not risking life and limb in the dark.

If only they hadn't been weakened by neonics they would have survived this. lol.

Sorry to hear this Chris, i hope it turns out that they are okay.

Thanks Pete. What really gets me is I was checking flood warnings and there wasn't one for this lot. It caught the farmer out too. I think they've lost about 1000 pheasants and the rest of their shooting this winter.

Chris I was also doing the same, the last alert was in July which as it turns out was nothing compared with the last few days.

The ability to laugh in the face of adversity is admirable (and it was funny too.)

Good luck for the morrow.

:iagree:

I hope it isn't as bad as it sounds Chris B :(

****, hope it works out not as bad as it looks Chris. I'm lucky coz where I live we dont see any problems from flooding but my thoughts are with everyone who has suffered.

Fingers crossed in Leeds Chris.

I would like to echo ALL the above and hope it is not a bad as it sounds, good luck tomorrow Chris B

As with everyone, I hope things turn out OK and reall sorry to hear of this.

My symphathy to anybody who has any flooding problems and I feel grateful that during my lifetime I cant remember any floods in Norwich.. There were some in 1912 tho.

Clear sky at 9 this morning, then the sun came out, and then the bees were out, and its hard to believe that what today is only a short drive would take me to very badly flooded areas.

I know how you feel mate we have just lost 60 colonies to floodwater absolutely gutted to see the utter distruction and years of hard work destroyed.

Sorry to hear that - it's just gut wrenching!

Best of luck Chris B. Hope it's not as bad as you fear.

Heres hoping its not as bad as it sounds Chris, good luck this morning.

Sorry to hear that Bates, which area were your 60 in. I would be devastated just losing 1

Chris,

Hope it's better than it sounds. I've lost 13+ hives due to flooding. The problem with Oxfordshire is you don't realise where it will flood until it rains.....!

It's a flippers and snorkel situation here.....
