Hi, i have a number of brood frames that still have honey in them, collected after one of my hive collapsed, they have fermented, the smell is quite strong,i was wondering if i can spin this off and that my comb would be ok to re use,...help and advice please.

When you say collapsed, what exactly do you mean? More information would be useful here.

If the colony died out, I'd want to make sure I knew why before considering reusing comb.

hi thanks for the reply,i lost the colony through varroa, and understand where ur coming from regarding contamination, such a waste but i think i must destroy the lot,but i thought it was worth asking.

Losing the colony from Varroa is a bit casual as there is loads of advice on the forum and well published on the net.

As for the honey, spin it out and dump, the combs will be fine.

Better luck next time and now you have found us possibly ask in advance?

Finish off what nature has started, Add water a strong yeast such as champagne type and you can make mead!
