I might have to feed my bees at some point in August. There has been a storm yesterday, and the ground was properly soaked, so maybe they'll find food to forage, but I was ready to feed them this weekend as there has been a serious drought in the past months here.

The thing is that the colonies are quite strong. I don't think they'd fit in just the brood box, so if I feed I'll probably have to leave a super on.

Any suggestions regarding this?
I'm ready to store the sugar-laced super frames to give back to the bees in case it's necessary, for example.

Are you likely to have any flow this year at all? If not then remove QE and feed on brood and a half. Nothing lost and from what you say no other choice

Possibly another flow, but not before September.

Fortunately it looks like I won't need to feed.

After last week's rain the stronger hive has filled one super, and the other one has filled three quarters of a super. It's not all capped, so it might end up being less once processed, and I suspect it's mainly honeydew what they're bringing in, but at least now they're storing it.

I'll have to keep my eyes open, though, and make sure they keep finding food. August isn't over yet.
