I have just received this advice by email. Sun 4 oct 2009.

" EFB has been reported close to J4 of the M5 (Lydiate Ash) and Justus is making inspections. "

Justus Klaar is the local bee inspector. He is a very helpful and informed beek.

No doubt he will be able to substantiate or dispel the report in due course.

Yes it's true. Apparently it was about a mile from one of my apiaries. This was found about 6 weeks ago.
You just need to check Beebase online to see right up to date foulbrood stats, but it gives you the 10km ordnance survey square rather than a precise location.
The apiary in question will be subject to a standstill, but there is no other "exclusion zone". EFB is spread by beekeepers not by bees (well 99% of the time).
 
Glad it's not your lot Chris, ... I hope the beek is doing ok with dealing with it but Justus is pretty good iirc.
