Dusty among our contributors but he's been missing for a while now. He kept bees on top of a church
Cathedral please! (well, Manchester Cathedral) he no longer looks after those bees, there was a bit of a hostile takeover so he walked away from the whole mess. He still keeps bees, just doesn't bother coming on here any more

Before beekeeping became trendy I’d suggest most British people looked a bit sideways at you if you said you kept bees. It was generally different ethnicities that expressed a real interest even reverence. I have found a number that are also convinced we put sugar in the honey!! I think it’s a cultural thing😂

.....its on a trading estate (they make hovis bread so perhaps the stink of white bread put them off !)

it has direct line of sight to the croydon incinerator !!

Hovis make bread in all ethnicities...brown, white and "best-of-both". Doesn't all bread smell wonderful when baking? It's got to be less off-putting than "the Croydon incinerator". ;)

haha ... yeah the hovis bakery factory has a pretty sweet (and overpowering) smell ..... not the smell you get from your local bakery that is wonderful ! ..perhaps its me tho ,..... was a bit late to sourdough lockdown but got a starter in the new year so have become a bread bore ! ... so forgive my middle class bread snobbery :)

37% out of British people are non religious. Do they keep bees?
I'm very fond of spending time in churches, but I'm not religious. Similarly, I'm not a monarchist but value the comforting presence of our Queen.

Perhaps beekeeping is a religion? There's plenty to suggest that nature is a fine spiritual guide, and if anything can keep that 37% away from shopping and Netflix, I'm all for it.

Sounds like your bait hives may be a bit too high off the ground
Good luck🙏 Praise bee

Beekeeping keep away from shopping?

its actually the old HSS (tool hire) HQ and in a pretty ugly trading estate but the wandle runs beautifully along one side and there is beddington nature reserve and mitcham common on the other (until you hit croydon incinerator and IKEA !) ... I could put the bait hive on the reception roof would that work better than the top of the tall building ?

My bait hives sit on my potting shed roof which is about 8/10 feet high. They never fail
So yes, have a go

As above a good shed or garage roof is an ideal height, no need to get more complicated.
