Bees swarmed into my neighbour's chimney the other day, though they only told me this morning. We've spent the whole day smoking them out, but they seemed pretty stoical.

Then about 3.30 I noticed a swarm in a low bush very close to the house. I have collected this swarm and removed it. However, at dusk I could still see a few straggly bees around the chimney.

I am, of course, hoping that the swarm was the bees vacating the chimney, but on a day like this it could just be yet another swarm (or more likely, a cast).

Would bees still hang around the site vacated like this, or would absolutely every singly one fly off with the queen?

I remain hopeful - but I'm not very optimistic.

Yes.....and you did exactly what I'd have done
