Hi guys,

yesterday, i decide to do another inspection

1 hive i had was found to have a laying worker, drone cells everywhere but no workers. multiple eggs in cells and no sign of queen, i left them for a few weeks hoping that they may raise a new queen but the tried in vain. They did build queen cells and some of them were capped but a few days later they were ripped down. i assuming this is because they knew it was a drone

anyway, hive in the end was full of drones not many workers. so decided not point merging with another hive, plus there was a laying worker somewhere. took the hive to the corner of the field and eptied it of bees and put the hive in storage. Some of the flying bees flew back to where their hive was situated but obviously found out that their hive had gone!!!

i have 2 hives next to where this hive was located. Will these flyers try to enter the other hives and if so, whats the chances of being accepted?? seem a bit of a waste of bees

Most of them will get in, especially if they have any stores. IMO anyway

Some may,but would be more likely in good foraging weather...better for your other colonys if they don't make it though, old nearly worn out workers and drones carrying there mite load, ect, to your other colonys.

"i left them for a few weeks hoping that they may raise a new queen "

why??? never going to get a queen from laying workers so colony could have been put to better use by uniting earlier before wasting energies and bees raising drones.

Did you put in a "test frame" (with eggs) from a queenright hive?

unfortunately not!!

reason being is i could not afford to take a frame of brood from either of my other 2 hives.
