Where can I purchase a replacement electric motor for my 20 frame dadant extractor. I am waiting on them getting back to me but wondered if there are any cheap companies in the uk that sell similar?

Does the motor have a motor plate?
Power Voltage Current, Frame size etc?
Should be able to match with a modern equivalent I would have thought.

Right an update. The motor I have is dead, well not worth repairing. I have found a supplier that is happy to sort me out but they have asked me questions I have no idea about.

they want to know the motor speed and final gearbox RPM. I have no idea about these and have asked the original supplier and got no answer. There is no plaque on the motor so have no idea.

Is there someone that can help out what the answer is to them. If it helps the extractor is a 20frame radial.

cheers

Send them the motor?

Yeghes da

Motor speed is irelevant if they are supplying a geared unit. Gearbox output speed is.

250-300rpm seems about the max for a 9 frame radial, but a 20 frame would likely be a little lower. Digital laser tachos are 'as cheap as chips' these days, so anyone with a similar extractor could measure the maximum speed for a relatively small outlay.

Power output of many of these extractor motors is less than 100W. (80W is typical for a 9 frame extractor)

Mine is 2800rpm and I suspect the gearbox ratio is 10:1 input to output. But it is a 9 frame extractor. The 20 framers may well utilise the same drive unit - check out a supplier who stocks both sizes?

If your motor is dismantled, it is not difficult to determine the gear ratio. Gearboxes are rated for torque transmission rather than actual power, particularly if used in a variable speed application.

Cheers for that O90O

I have found a really old thread (2009) on here that gave me the same info but didn't have the motor output but you have now given that to me so I can now go about getting it ordered and get what honey I have to extract out of the frames and into jars.

cheers again.
