We're having a bit of a drought here, with orders being issued not to waste water. We already have the equivalent of a hosepipe ban in force provisionally until september, and a few crops have already been written off.

My bees have access to plenty of water, there's a stream about 50m away.
I'm more worried about food. Will blooms dry up in this kind of weather? We are talking about mediterranean climate, so the plants should be used to drier weather, but this has been a particularly dry season.

Hope I am not stating the obvious but check the supers, and give the odd brood comb a shake to see if there is nectar about.

If not then consider feeding.

My experience, no water means little nectar, early autumn feeding

Looks like I was worrying for nothing.

The bees have finished drawing the supers and have filled them both with bees and with nectar. The frames are quite heavy, but not capped yet.

I'll probably add another super each next week, these ones are drawn though.

We've had it really dry up here as well but the girls have been foraging like nobody's business. Last night they were hanging out on the porch bearding as it was so hot. It rained in the night and has rained on and off all day. Cyclone Circe, apparently. I expect you've had some rain from it by now! I hope it's all going okay!

Yeah, had a bit of rain yesterday evening and it was a bit cooler today.
I'll be seeing it this weekend how things are going, but I'm no longer worried about them.

Looks like I'll have a substantial crop even if it's the first year...
