I have a couple of hives that swarmed (away on hols so couldn't prevent). Captured two swarms, housed and queens laying well.

Old hives, that swarmed, had queen cells, now empty so queen emerged. This was about 3 weeks ago. No sign yet of a laying queen. Have spotted drones entering these two hives. Could this be drones returning from a mating flight, having not mated with the queen, or do the drones just go on a toilet flight so no significance?

Thanks

Drones leave the hive to increase their chances of getting lucky with Queens that might not be their sisters, so no significance, from my limited knowledge.
