Here in the S. Wales valleys we have had almost two weeks of cold wet windy rain. I managed to look into a few hives today, one in particular on the last inspection (31st May) had nine 14x12 frames full of brood at various stages, today there were three. I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this, they have stores but its been so cold, she has really slowed down laying.

Yeah it just sounds like the cold weather has slowed the queens laying, probably because the bees cannot heat the rest of the frames. I wouldn't worry as long as they have bees and stores.

The weather looks better this week, warming up nicely here down south.

Just go with the flow nothing is written in stone as far as Honey bees go, just take each day as it comes and improvise/adapt and overcome. ;)

Same here...Queen rearing in mini nucs affected.

Commiserations - it's been lovely weather here in the east - but I remember a spell of several days fairly recently with the BBC forecaster repeatedly saying 'West is best'. Swings and roundabouts - to coin a phrase.

Not holding my breath with the six I got in mating Nucs waiting! The weather may have put the mockers on that..

mine have mated regardless of the crepe weather - two in record quick time and probably during the worst of the bad weather!! but colony sizes have definitely reduced/slowed down at most of the apiaries

Nectar coming in here so hoping for some build up of Brood, did slow down but with the weather report showing high temps for the next week plus we should see improvement, hopefully

Hope so. Cell punched 10 cells this pm in anticipation of warmer weather..

It has been mostly very dry and sunny here but the soil is like dust and nectar is scarce. The season started badly due to cold and wind, but improved for a while but then became very dry. 27 C tomorrow and no rain forecast for the next week.
