Hi guys just looking to know if this would work for making a honey settling tank. Get a 60lb honey bucket from C. Wynne Jones and put on a 1.5" Nylon Valve from th**nes?

Steve

Sure, as long as it does not leak. I use 5 gallon plastic carboys with valves in the lid and turn them on the side.

I thÓught they were sold as a replacement for purpose built extractors and stettling tanks.

Stephen, you could always have a chat with the Glass, McCann or Hewitt families - all are processing apples locally and might be able to provide you with a food grade container of ample size to which you could add a gate valve (and if you get a positive answer give me the heads up!! ;)) .
I have been advised that it is better to pay the extra for a stainless steel gate valve rather than a nylon one..... one of my beekeeping buddies is about to swap out his remaining nylon gate valves as he is fed up with leaks.

Thanks Lyndon,

Do you think you could pm contact details for these people?

Stephen
