Planning on trying to produce some cut comb next year but can't make my mind up on best national super frames to use - wide side bar or narrow. Would be grateful for any advice about which works best.

Manley frames... Our Welsh friend greases the sides with best lard

You need a good, strong flow to produce decent cut comb. Rather than thinking of complete supers, why not slip some between frames in your supers?

I went to a talk by Willie Robson (Chain Bridge Honey Farm) on comb honey production. He recommended Manley frames, spaced 10 to a box, the idea being that the wider side bars and bottom bar give a thicker and more even comb. Thought I might give them a try next year.

I've run Manleys SN1's SN4's and no noticeable difference. You need decent strong colonies and a decent flow. I space at 10/super by eye.
I now hate Manleys, they are the most frustrating awkward frames I've worked with. Try getting them out when they get a bit damp and the wood has expanded.
