can you take down all emergency cells and recombine above the new brood box on the original site?

It may take 2-3 cycles but you can reassemble the hive into a single colony.
You can see it demonstrated in the old IWF video C13136 Selection of the honeybee - yield and behaviour

Thank you...a good video.....I will be keeping that one.

Curiouser and curiouser. I got some time today, so I decided to do the AS. I went looking for the queen and, after 45mins I found her, so now she's marked & clipped - that only took a year!

There were no QC's so it looks like they've calmed down. I had a broodbox I had been using as a super (I want drawn comb for next year) and decided to simply turn it into a double brood - moved a couple of frames of capped brood up and empty frames down, as encouragement.

What if you don't want increase....can you take down all emergency cells and recombine above the new brood box on the original site?

Sorry only just spotted this....manic in my own apiary, i'm there (with a purpose) nearly every day.
I see B+ has answered it....just as well as my answer would have been, not straight away as they will swarm prep again

Thank you Erica. My questions were...a just in case scenario. So far this season all my bees have stayed put. They probably looked out down the hill....saw all the swarms trying to find empty hives!
