as Jack would say - that's what comes from buying magic beans! never mind, if it's any consolation I have a brood of unicorns just hatching - shall I keep you a pink one
How about this from LASI.....great stuff
I am sorry for you to have invalid queen and delay your colony performance.
Please, don't worry. You will receive a mated queen soon with six legs. I will try my best to send you one ASAP.
Nice one, was your original queen mated?
.
Well done.
I hope the replacement queen has all six legs attached and not one in a separate box..
Meanwhile the Queen with 5 legs in the Assocaition Apairy has been inspected this am and is still busy laying. Her super is half full..
Which leg has she missing though?
I last looked in on Tuesday
She was ambling about with her circle of attendants looking into cells; NOT laying.
I removed her empty introduction cage 6 days before that......
I had two mated queens who were out of their push in cages for 6 days - not laying though. Looked in on day 8 and they were gone- bees shrugging shoulders denying all knowledge!
Oops...hope they weren't your specials!

Oops. Sounds like a virgin from the wally split. At least your legless queen was probably doomed to failure anyway. Far more upsetting if it happened to your replacement LASI queen. My LASI queen is dead on the ground outside the hive and there is a small (virgin?) black queen strolling about the frames!
One of the 25 I sprung from a Wally Shaw split 6 days ago?
I hope she keeps them happy till the new Sussex queen comes and I hope she is the only one in there!
You couldn't make it up
I had more luck as a beginner
Husband has just said that the more you learn and the more complicated you make anything the more can go wrong.
I don't know......I often don't have a clue.
So.... Out apiary it is! I have similar with my husband. Bees take up too much of my time- but he loves gardening and too many hives in the garden mean he can't potter to his hearts content. Therefore out apiary works for me. I am just coming to the realisation that all these hives I had to have are possibly too many for me to manage without taking up all my spare time. Must be said though that you definitely need a second site to do some hive manipulating. Just don't go mad like I did and end up with 10 on there and three at home. What I need is an out apiary to do all my manipulations in but I think that if I tried to expand my horizons I might just see my beloved on a different horizon
