Sorry but to say "in the UK" is painting with a huge brush.

There are massive differences in this country, for instance Hivemaker is some 3 to 4 weeks ahead of me and as for Angus in Shetland I hate to think of the time differences between Hivemaker and him as there is some 800 miles of Northing there.

It is the worst it has been as far as i can remember on the North East coast, i had the pooch out last night in on and of blizzard conditions and it was that cold the snow that hit me was instantly freezing, by the time i got home i was totally white, i do not know the exact temperature but it was in minus double figures last night and not much better today with that bitter wind.

We are still covered in 10" + of snow. Yes, it is thawing but very slowly, thankfully as if it goes too fast there will be flooding for sure.

It got to -7.6'C in a greenhouse on the allotment.

Thankfully ours is almost gone and a toasty eight degrees according to the outside thermometer. There has not been more than 4/5 inches on the ground but some of the drifts were getting over seven feet in places.

Last Friday a friend of mine was driving sensibly through the snow, only to have an ***** behind him, flashing his lights for him to pull over. There was no opportunity to do so, but when the road widened, the ***** overtook at speed.

That was the only danger I foresaw on my trek up to Stoneleigh Friday afternoon - yes, the snow was bad, but I've seen and had to travel in much worse, bad visibility with snow and thrown up slush was the worst hazard, in the end I opted for the less frequented road, heading from Newport to Monmouth then the M50 - more snow on the road, but less slushy and I was the only driver heading North so I could relax somewhat and concentrate on the road rather than other road users, plodding away at a steady but safe speed.

A great opportunity to make some proper bread. Since I discovered what a great job the dough hook on my mixer makes of kneading I make most of ours

All a bit of a non event in Leeds. A few snow showers early in the week, a moderately heavy snowfall on Thursday morning, and all the roads clear by Friday morning, so I was able to drive to Otley with no problems. The snow has all gone, and there have been bees flying from all three hives in my garden today.

Intresting. Only snowed for 1 full day on friday but enough to work from home and no cars on the road. Was intresting to see some people out in the snow trying to drive but road was impassible. Couple hours later whole road had abandoned cars lol but thankfully most if not all has melted thank god

I would not rule the cold weather out in a fortnight or even into April as i have seen snow in April however i will keep a open mind for summer predictions..

he did get the weather wrong last summer but he does predict the weather six months in advance, he has predicted two weeks in july being good and a couple of weeks in august,but the rest a bit hit and miss

Sounds pretty obvious that there’ll be two decent weeks in July, and two in August somewhere in the country.
I predict that there’ll be at least three days in June when rain falls in England, Scotland or Wales.
