Does any one from You try ever bee workers sedation ( around 4-5 minutes in CO2 concentration 30-40% =PCo2 200-300 mmHg) before new queen addition? Specialy if queen is alien race?
I did this more than 10 times with good results. Queens which were not accepted before sedation after this procedure were.

Is here any one with experience with this?

For example, I added Italian bee queen in to Carlonian bee workers (first video right on:

Thank You,
It looks to be similar methode i am doing. But on the video bees getting little bit more CO2 and are much more sedated. I am waiting to the time when bees stop walking and that was enough to accept new queens in 15 cases i did.
Any way Thank You for this video very interesting.
p.s
Do You know maybe how much shorter is bees live after this procedure?
I did not check it, bees live enough to rear new generations but maybe there are some precision scientific data?

I did read a paper about it a long time ago but I tend not to keep them. The effect I was interested in was on the hypopharyngeal gland of nurse bees. I can't remember off the top of my head what that was.
The exposure was much longer in that video because the volume of the box was quite large.
I do use CO2 when inseminating virgin queens. As you say, it need only be a couple of minutes. Two exposures are necessary. One 24 hours before or after the insemination. Both exposures should only be a couple of minutes. I allow the queen to recover in an incubator afterwards,
