Cell identification

Hello

Could someone help me identify this cell. is it a drone or an emergency queen?

Sorry about the image quality. There must be nearly 30 of these cells in the brood. There is also one one queen cell that is capped but the cap is furry. is that normal?

Looks like drone cells to me nothing to worry about.

I take it your camera doesn't have a macro mode

it was only a kodak £60 job from comet so i would doubt it, but will have a look.

Hi,
If you are referring to the single cell in the center of the first pic and the group of cells adjoining the bottom bar in the second pic - they are drone cells.

Put a magnifying glass, or jewelers eyepiece, directly in front of the lens and then move the camera backwards and forwards till you get a sharp image on the screen. Hold the taking button halfway down for two seconds before taking the pic to allow the camera to auto-focus if it can do that.

cheers for the advice, it was the first time i'd taken pictures of the hive. i think i'll use a magnifying class next time. I wills still have to combat my fingers and thumbs syndrone!

if your camera has a setting that looks like this

it has a macro mode.

it does have macro mode then, I really should have kept the manual!
