Hi,
I am looking at some ideas on how to get the right amount of Canadian balsam for mounting, does anyone have any good suggestions?

I have tried to mount about 30 slides and always seem to have too much or not enough on the slide. I know some people say keep going until you crack it. I was wandering how some people judge how much they are required to put on

Kind regards

The only Canadian balsam I'm aware of is a medicine ?
I take it you are mounting Pollen , if so I believe canadian baslam is extracted from a tree named completely differently ?

Hi VM,

this is one that just comes with practice I am afraid. I always recommend to my lot that they practice on one type of slide and make multiple copies. These can then be given to other beekeepers. It helps you hone your technique and muchh of this is practice. I always add less than I think I need and that is usually correct!

Thanks very much for the mail Nic. Looks like practice makes perfect
