Hi,was wondering if anyone keeps any Buckfast bees in North Ireland or Scotland would be interested in making contact to find out how they do this far north.

There are Buckfasts and then there are Buckfasts. I know a beefarmer in Scotland who tried them and he was not impressed (ate too many winter stores) but I also know a beefarmer in Finland who gets them from Austria and says they do well. You can also get them from Denmark where the weather is pretty much like some parts of Scotland.

The problem for any UK sourced Buckfasts is they are probably now some sort of local mongrel. Buckfast strains needs new blood introduced from time to time by controlled mating which people struggle to do here.
