The people I have met with Flow hives fall into two categories.

2, Those that bought them - they like them​

Or are too embarrassed to admit they made an expensive mistake.

Flow hives are great in a warm climate where weather and crops are predictable.

Where we live the weather is totally unpredictable, flows come and go with the weather and there is no arable farming within a three mile radius.

So a flow hive is totally useless except in ideal weather. (As we are at a Solar Minimum - a 10 year cycle - the Flow Hive at present is as useful as a chocolate teapot. It will be useful from 2025).

It gets changed when it needs to be changed, not when some calendar tells me

when the bees chew bits off it, it's obviously coal black, manky and falling to bits

When it’s falling apart snd beginning to be unstable

When the frame has too many drone cells in it.

When a decent amount of the frame (25%+?) looks dark black and completely opaque. Other opinions available, as you can see above! But that's what I do.

Also, ref basic course, I think of you want to do qualifications you have to start with the basic assessment. I have no intention currently of progressing though

I think they removed that requirement a year or so ago.
