To make it easy for you ...

What is the BBKA Insurance
The BBKA provide all Members (and Local Associations & Branches) with absolutely first rate
cover at breathtakingly low prices, all included in your membership!
How are the prices so low? Two reasons:-
1. Buying power – of over 25,000 members across the UK.
2. Best practice. The only large claim we have seen in the last 3 years was from a beekeeper
who had never been a member of the BBKA.
What is the cover (in plain English)?
What is the cover (in plain English)?

not worth the paper it was printed on ( although try asking for a copy of the certificate as would be needed for a properly organised traders market!!

OTHERWISE.... why would those that walk the walk as well as talk the talk take out cover with the NFU MUtual etc at much greater expence than £20 odd with the " Local Association!"

Time your misdirection's, lies and blatant trolling were exposed.
Perhaps you could give us a resume of the exceptions???.....which I doubt very much as you haven't even read it...more of your subterfuge and misdirection.
Pathetic really.

LInk to download a copy for members is easily found in the BBKA members section.
Why people waste their money on things they don't really needs always puzzles me.

......... Bbka insurance only covers you to a limited number of hives, not sure of the number am sure someone here knows but think it’s 50 or below

Just checked it’s 40 hives max

Just checked it’s 40 hives max

BBKA limited PRODUCTS Liability***, is on a separate schedule to Public liability... Disease Insurance cover is a separate policy again, it is not even clear who covers what with the BBKA basic insurance that gives bee disease insurance with the first three colonies

To be fair to BDI they will cover more than 40 colonies under a special scheme..
BDI will compensate you for any losses of frames only destroyed under order and direction of a NBU inspector for the notyfiable diseases of AFB or EFB...
no cover for loss of bees/honey/ honey futures or hives ,... or theft or spray killing... small hive beetle/ wax moth CBPV etc etc.

***AND as far as I can make out the ordinary insurance that comes with BBKA membership has debatable cover for products you may sell including beeswax wraps....... if any

I can only speak on this from my own limited experience

As with any product you buy especially insurance check it out for yourself.... do not trust the man down the pub .....or anyone on here for advice.

While we're on the topic of insurance, has anybody had occasion to activate the public liability cover?

In defense of BDI
BDI.... they pay out for replacement frames only provided the APHA inspector issues a note stating number of frames destroyed due to notice of AFB or EFB only.
BDI also make a donation of (£100) to each Bee Disease Day they host with local associations,
( One about to come up in Cornwall... suggest that local beekeepers attend it)
