It doesn't matter where you hang it .. the hive tool gremlins will have hidden it somewhere else by the time you go back ....
sometimes the five tools on the right are refered to as American hive tools, originally, these were painter's tools for scraping and preparing surfaces for painting which some beekeeper at one time thought were ideal beekeeping tools - the hole, as others have said, was to pull nails from the timber prior to painting but someone thought they'd better keep it, thus another beekeeping 'tradition' was spawnedPrompts me to ask; whats the purpose of the hole in the hive tool?
