That reminds me of when I was a child.... We had the windscreen from a bi_plane that was flying overhead fall into our back garden!!!!! No one ever claimed it!

I would not concern yourself over private nuisance or public nuisance as any investigation into this matter by your Councils EH Department will be concerned with Statutory nuisance. If they have actually received a complaint from your neighbour they are duty bound to inform you of such. No letter, then don’t worry yet.

I give my immediate neighbours honey each year (if they don't like honey,I would not).

They must get their cars covered in bee poo - and their house windows and washing..

I would give your neighbour a jar of honey each year and tell them no one else has complained..(if true).

My car gets covered in bee poo.. saves waxing it..

In fairness its should also be a question of scale, if the car is covered in hundreds of drops then a moan may be warranted however a dozen or 2? I would tell them to take a jump after taking what would be considered any reasonable action. I once had a situation with a school in a village. We placed a couple of wbc hives in the middle of a small field backing on to a school within a week the school complained. The fact there had been 10 hives tucked away out of sight for 18 months was a bit of a joke the fact these hives had no bees inside was even better. A meeting was arranged with the school on the fence line, my mum and I on 1 side and the head on the other, I simply walked up to the boxes and took the hives apart. We never heard from them again, later had 20 hives and nucs with no complaints from any neighbours. If the situation escalated that may be a worth a try. Fields now got a few houses on it!!!!

I would suggest that they respray the car an orange brown colour.:spy:.

I studied Environmental Law as part of my degree at UoP.... advice is to get expert advice!

I'm not talking about public nuisance. I'm talking the law of tort. That 's a whole different matter.

I suggest my forty years working as a solicitor following my law degree and Law Society finals trumps your environmental law course.

Probably not!

As a mere undergraduate in the last century***, I fought and won a case against my local council over the collection of waste (mostly Plastic) collected from a small bay in the South Hams.
They said it was not their responsibility .... Environmental Law said it was defined as Household waste... and the council had to collect it..... despite an over paid and over self important solicitor following who most certainly had a law degree and passed Law Society finals!!

Judges decision at the end of the day!!!

And you've dined out on it ever since.

Better pooping on your car than be sunbathing and being pooped on as happened to a neighbour of mine :D

She is moaning about needing to wash her car twice a week so I don’t think she is going to accept a couple of car washes. Honey isn’t going to solve anything.
The land is mine but it’s not my home so my car isn’t parked ther as much.
In reality, I have 11 hives there so arguing that it might be a feral colony is a bit lightweight. Is it from my bees? Yes. (Not that I have admitted that to her)
The problem is I have nowhere easy to site them. One option is pushing them closer to a football field which could have worse consequences.
I really don’t want to be forced into wrapping up over this.

Where can I possibly go from here. I am heartbroken. I arrived today to find 3 hives completely destroyed and 6 hives badly burned.

Phone call to the police, make a diary of your previous interactions with the individual, document everything no matter how small and find a lawyer who can help you put together a civil case.

At this point, don't post anything further on social media about this and don't speak to them. Police will put together a criminal case, if they think there is enough evidence to suggest that they did it and you will be able to recover the value of the hives.

Of-course this is devastating, as a farmer we've had barns set on fire before and lost thousand of pounds of straw but never stock.

Do exactly as Farmer says. I nearly cried for you. That is criminal damage of your property never mind the bees.
My heart goes out to you
Enrico
