BBKA got my credit card blocked!

Just a heads-up, guys and gals.

When the Convention tickets went on sale, I was in London (I live in Manchester).

I bought the Convention ticket - then accommodation and a workshop separately. But then I had to pay £2 to book a place at a lecture, again as a separate transaction.

Late last night - well, 01:00 - I tried to book a plane ticket.
It took me to RBS Secure - which declined the transaction three times.

Early this morning, my bank's Fraud Team contacted me saying they thought my card had been compromised - so they'd cancelled it.

On reflection, I'd inadvertently tripped their criteria by doing what scammers do - making a small payment (£2) to a Charity (BBKA) - before making a large payment on something unusual (the flight).

So now, I've not got my main credit card for a few days - and no flight tickets either!

Just thought it might be useful to flag this up with you.

Yes ... that's happened to me ... in some respects I'm grateful that they have these security measures in place as I had my card cloned a few years ago and they had £2300 out of my account before the bank smelled a rat .... (I did get it back eventually from the bank !)

However, with modern communications you would think that someone would look at your account (which has been identified as having potentially fraudulent transactions applied) and picked up the phone to your - or sent you a text/email ? Rather than just blocking your card and stopping transactions ...

Perhaps one of those bank people who are employed to phone me and ask me if their service is up to scratch and then launch in to "would I like to buy some house insurance, car insurance, pension plan, bags of coal, fur coat etc." and all the other things my bank should NOT be trying to sell me, could be utilised ?

Just used paypal. but if there ever is a query on my payment card, bank will phone both home and mobile for confirmation of the transactionrather than cancel the card.
