Hi Folks,

Last year I transferred my hives to poly hives so currently I have a lot of cedar BB’s sat doing nothing which seems a shame. Apart from the weight (my extractor can handle BB frames) is there any negatives to using the BB’s as supers?

When there is a damp year the problems will appear.

Bbs are fine as supers you can also pull honey clogged frames from the brood nest and replace with empty. 1 issue mentioned recently was storing pollen clogged frames I reserve once extracted and get them back onto expanding nucs. Not sure what ph means by damp year but I find they work well.

I have been using them for some years now as my only box type. They are heavier but i'm a big boy and I couldn't be bothered with the faff off rose hives.
