Lol it’s a good use though. Some put mesh over the entrance hole bees don’t appear to mind but it can keep the birds out.

What size is the entrance?
My bait hive at the out apiary has a 1" circular hole and I'm now wondering because my bird boxes at home have similar!

This is what might happen if your bait hive entrance is too large

Is that a wren's nest ? I had one a couple of years ago that made a nest in an upturned planter that was on it's side up against a fence - it only had a single 1" drain hole. They had no problem coming and going through the hole. The first lot fledged and then they had a second clutch ... in the same nest, Loved watching them coming and going with beaks stuffed with insects.

I could imagine a wren or tit nesting in a pot in the right place. But the inside of a bait hive is cavernous to a little bird! I'll have to keep an eye out!

A great tit.
It’s put a lot of effort in collecting all that moss!

I think I’ll put a bait hive out next year, and a camera in it, and see what I get. I’ve got a regular Robin, but wouldn’t mind others in residence.

Robins fledged in my garden week before last, I have 3 or 4 other Robins as well in the garden, always there when turning the ground, planting or weeding singing away.

We haven’t been able to get into the poly tunnel tool shed because we have nesting wagtails. The grass is growing in the orchard

Haven't you heard of no Mow May?
Went down to Garn Cottage yesterday and noticed the grass in the orchards hasn't been cut for ages, I asked my mate Tiddy if he was following NMM and he said 'No, I have five mowers and the ride on, none are working at the moment and I can't be a*sed to fix them' :icon_204-2:
