Last week I noticed a dragonfly darting in between my hives and getting very close to the entrance but then being ambushed by the guards and flying off. He was there for a good 5 mins.

Today he's back doing the same, quite a sight might I add!

I know dragonflies will eat bees after doing some google research.

Do they pose a big threat to my colonies? Does anyone have the same happening?

Had the same problem a few weeks ago, bees attacked the dragonfly and I have never seen it around again....it was a large one and a few bees attached 2 it when it flew off.

They surely do. The bugg may eate couple of bees a day.

This time bees die naturally perhaps 500 - 1000 bees per colony a day.

I have not found that dragonflyes hunt for bees. They are many around my yard.
